Wood Floors or Carpet in the Living Room?

My latest offering here on the UK Homes DIY blog concerns a brief note about flooring – or more particularly the raging debate currently taking place in our house over whether we should stick with carpet or go for a solid wood floor. My housemates are arguing that we should replace the old stained carpet we have with a brand new one, which I agree would be a lot warmer during the winter months. However, I’m leaning towards a quality wooden floor like those outlined online in National Floors Direct as I feel it is so much easier to maintain and would add further value to the house. I also feel that I have the DIY skills to attempt to fit it myself – although my housemates tend to disagree! Maybe having got into a pickle in the bathroom I should call in a home improvement specialist to tackle the job!

You will be so happy if you go with hardwood flooring. We had it installed just over a year ago throughout our whole house, and love it. I can honestly say wood flooring is definitely not cold. (I was also worried about that because we live in northern Wisconsin). You will love how easy it is to keep wood floors REALLY clean, which is just not possible with carpeting. Wood flooring is just gorgeous, so go for it! You and your housemates will be happy you did.
