Good afternoon home improvement lovers. Today’s blog post concerns a new discovery of mine which I would like to share with you. Indeed, you too may not be aware of this fact either, but while many of us are very much used to enjoying the warmth and style that a good quality rug can bring to the interior of your home or flat – there are in fact some very similar products that can be bought to be used to adorn the outside of your home. Such items can be a great addition to any outdoor communal area – such as a patio or outdoor dining area – and have been carefully built and woven in special ways so as to be resistant to the weather and elements that you would expect may potentially damage such products when used outside. The colour dyes that are used to make up the beautiful rug designs so unique are also specifically designed as to be resistant to the potential fading effects of the sun’s rays on the rug when left outside during the summer months or in hot climates. All these key features make for an extremely attractive and versatile product – and indeed there are indoor outdoor rugs available which as the name suggests are appropriate for either the interior or exterior of your home and garden areas.

Hello to all once again and welcome back to the UK Homes home improvement blog. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve been working far too hard of late – both in my “day job” and also in doing the frequent DIY projects that i seem to undertake in and around the home. If you feel anything like me, then sometimes you just want to put your feet up when you’ve finished with all the hard work and try to relax in the ultimate bliss and comfort that your living room can provide! It was at that point when I decided to spend some time browsing through furniture shops online and I saw the Lazyboy recliner chair. These babies seem to tick all the boxes and give you the ultimate combination of contemporary style and comfort for your home. As well as the full adjustability they offer, these chairs also can provide a heat massage – and some even have fridges built in so you will never have to get up onto your feet to fetch a nice cool drink again! Be warned however, if you want to get hold of one of these chairs always make sure you understand the importance of using only Lazyboy recliner authorized dealers to avoid any possible mishaps ruining your relaxation!

Any regular readers of my blog will know that I have a great passion for DIY and making the most out of my home. But did you know, in my opinion the key for any successful do it yourself or home improvement project regardless of the size or nature of the task is making sure that you start out with high quality materials and ensuring you have the right tools for the job. If for example, you are looking forward to making your own high quality curtains ready for the coming Autumn season, please always ensure you have high quality curtain fabric – whether your personal tastes and choice of materials are cotton, cashmere or linen. Starting out by buying yourself a good quality curtain fabric naturally gives you the right raw materials to finish a quality curtain set for your home – regardless of the design or shape – so why skimp on poor products that can often result in a badly finished job – even with skilled workmanship? Get the best for your home by shopping online for only the best fabrics you can afford within your budget.

Good afternoon once again to all readers of my UK Homes blog. I don’t know about what you guys may think on the subject, but it definitely seems to me that across the whole online home improvement industry at the moment there seems to be a growing concern of making more and more products that help to make a home more green or eco friendly. From what I have found, these products can range from highly complicated and expensive devices (such as solar panels fitted to your roof in order to harness the suns natural energy and heat your water tank in an eco friendly manner), to the more simple and straightforward methods you can use to make your home more energy efficient. Indeed, I believe that the simplest and most cost effective way you can do this is to fit good quality curtains and home furnishings in your house which will help to keep the heat in and therefore allow you to use much less energy on central heating – this is a particularly advisable tip if you do not have double glazing fitted. You will probably find that this method also has a major advantage in that you can get a very good return on your investment and ultimately save money on your heating bills (which seems to be an even greater concern given the difficult economic climate many of us are facing at the moment) for a relatively small outlay on products such as new curtains, drapes draft excluders and the like. Please see some of the older posts on my blog for more energy saving tips you can use around the house and help save the environment and your wallet today.

If like me when it comes to home furnishings you want the full classic and stylish look of old, antique hardwood furniture without the extremely high price tag that such great products come with, you may be interested to know about an excellent alternative at a fraction of the price: buying quality reproduction furniture online. Chests, tables, wardrobes – these guys have got the lot and it all looks awesome too! Indeed, these fantastic hand made products give you an excellent backdrop to compliment any room in your home, but seem much more affordable than many antique products you may find on the high street – and with full delivery available to your door you wont even have to brave the cold weather or the hustle and bustle of weekend shopping!

Hello once again to all my DIY blog readers. I hope you are all wrapped up warm with the bout of cold weather we have experienced in the UK over the past week or so. thankfully, this weather has not delayed the arrival of my order of office furniture to use in our new set up home study. Me and my housemates finally got round to moving all our accumulated random possessions from the spare room into the loft of our house, thus freeing up the necessary space to have a proper “work from home” area (which also gives me a great place to write and update this blog!) We have kitted the room out with with brand new office chairs which I think are quite chic, and also some decent quality shelves to store my notes and workbooks. I’m glad to finally have a proper workspace to operate in, as it can be rather hectic trying to work in your bedroom when you are living in shared accommodation and if the snow continues to fall on Leeds as it has been doing, then I may be forced to work there more often than I would like!

I am extremely happy to report that after my recent complaints about the state of some of the furnishings we have installed in our home, the landlord came round to our house last night with some new roman window shades to install in our living room. I have to say that they make quite a nice addition to our current home furnishings in the room, elegantly flowing down the bay window. Indeed, I have little doubt that they are certainly a significant improvement on the old, dusty and badly damaged venetian blinds we had in place in the living room previously. I would recommend this to anyone as a really simple home improvement idea. I have found that the window shades seem to offer a certain amount of privacy but importantly they still let in a lot of light unlike blinds which can be rather obtrusive in some ways. I guess that this is particularly important to me at this time of the year as it is dark for so much of the day here in the UK and the roman window shades allow more light to enter the room.

Regular readers of my home improvement tips will realise that I spend a lot of time searching online to bring you new and exciting sources of DIY and home improvement information and approaches from across the world. The latest inspiration I have been taking on board is from the experienced home remodelling team or home architects web site. These guys take what I think to be a very unusual and interesting philosophical approach to the whole sphere of home improvement, gaining their inspiration through a minimalistic approach which focuses much more on simplicity and space rather than clutter and possessions. If this is your ideal approach to home design why not check out their site to gain to learn more about their relaxed approach to home remodelling.

With just a few days still left to go until the big day, I’m already starting to look for for a few ideas on how to spend this years Christmas money which I am most likely to receive from my ever generous relatives during this festive period. While most people my age seem to spend it on xbox computer games and the like, naturally I’m spending time scouring the web for a few home improvement ideas to furnish the house. Having grabbed a fantastic rug for my bedroom earlier in the year I’m giving some thought to finding some similarly fine quality furnishings for the living room. I’ve checked out some fantastic rugs recently online from the Karastan Plum Blossom and Momeni New Wave range – quite a fine and unique style I’m sure you will agree. If I can find a good match for the current living room decor I’m sure to be on to a winner.
